- Position Summary
Victoria College's Student Life Department is recruiting for a full-time Student Life and Student Center Assistant. This position is responsible for assisting and performing the daily operations of the Student Life/Center Office. Typical duties will include working with the employees, students and general public to coordinate and set-up Student Center events; working with the Director of Student Life to implement and perform all activities with the students; training and monitoring student workers; performing general office functions. Ability to work flexible schedule (includes evenings and occasional weekends).

This position is benefits eligible.- Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as first contact for Student Life and Student Center assisting students, employees, and the community
- Provides information on student life events, clubs and organizations and student center offerings to students, employees and the community
- Maintains effective working relationships with students, VC employees and the community
- Performs general office/clerical functions
- Assists with training and monitoring daily activities of student workers
- Maintains a clean office space and updates materials (brochures, flyers, etc.) throughout the Student Center
- Monitors the student lounge and assists students as needed
- Maintains confidentiality of all student information
- Serves on committees as needed
- Utilizes the College’s event management system to reserve and approve events and coordinates with renters to identify needs and ensure customer satisfaction
- Responsible for setting up Student Center events which may include: setting up tables & chairs, information booths, event tents, and food service equipment
- Responsible for coordinating IT technical support, maintenance requests, custodial needs, and security for events held in the Student Center
- Meets weekly with Director and student workers to determine needs and review schedule of upcoming events
- Assists Student Life Director with planning and coordinating the event schedule
- Processes all forms for student clubs requests, check request, travel purchases, office supplies, etc., and monitors budget
- Recruits and assists with all student life volunteers
- Assists with the daily operations of the Student Government Association which may include processing paperwork, filing, setting up events, and any other necessary duties required at the Regional and State positions currently held
- Assists religious organizations with VC policies and procedures and paperwork whose primary advisor is not a VC employee
- Maintains the Student Life section of the website including updating it monthly with event details; working with Marketing department on news releases; inputting and reviewing event requests
- Assisting and maintaining Student Life Office social media
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Qualifications
- High School diploma; some college credit preferred;
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving students
- Strong customer service skills
- Possess problem solving skills and sound judgement
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks with accuracy
- Ability to work independently, as well as be a team player
- Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office applications (MS Outlook, Word and EXCEL) and have the ability to learn new software applications.
- Physical Demands
- Position is 80% physical labor and 20% administrative work. Physical labor includes lifting up to 50 lbs. Also includes the ability to safely push, pull, carry or frequently lift objects such as tables, podiums, chairs, and other event objects. Must have ability to stand for a minimum of two (2) hours without a break, walk, and use stairs all necessary for the set-up of events.
